About Us

Africa, the Dark Continent. For a long timeyou have dreamt of experiencing all of Africa's wonders in person. Stories you've read on African hunting, movies you've seen with the exotic and beautiful African animals and information that you have gathered have peaked your curiosity. Let us fulfill your lifelong dream of hunting in Africa, the home of big game hunting.

The game farm “Bouwersfontein” stretches over 3500 hectares and is located in a conservation area of 40 000 hectares in the Cape Karoo, a semi-arid region in South Africa. The Karoo with its harsh plains has been inhabited for over 500 000 years and is one of the world’s most unique arid zones which have inspired poets, artists, authors and photographers throughout the centuries. The name originated from the original Khoi word, Karus, meaning dry, barren, thirsty land.

Bouwersfontein remains greatly untouched and is home to game animals including Springbuck, Gems Buck, Zebra, Bles Buck, Kudu, Rooiribbok, Red Hartebeest, Black Wildebeest, Duiker and Steenbuck. Perimeter fencing of adjacent farms allow kudus to scale with ease and roam freely, contributing to a unique hunting experience.

The game farm has a magic that cannot be described, a serenity that needs to be experienced. The African sky in the Karoo is a sight to behold. Sunset and sunrise over open uncluttered plains are awe-inspiring. In the absence of pollution and artificial lighting, the moon and stars offer a breathtaking planetarium experience. On the horizon undulating mountains form an astonishing contrast with the level tracts of land. The unique vegetation is varied, exuding distinctive fragrances reminiscent of herbs and spices. The hills are pocked with bright orange aloes. Solitary windmills and seasonal rivulets awaken an appreciation of the gift of water to man, fauna and flora.

The hunters’ overnight camp is a place of quiet repose, of replenishment and of inner peace. Thatched en suite rondavels (living areas designed in the form of round tribal huts) and the recreation area blend in with the national surroundings so as not to detract from the uncultivated nature. The camp has no electricity, lighting is instead provided by lamps, candles and bonfires, lending an unparalleled nocturnal ambience. However, the absence of electricity does not impede the luxury of hot running water, which is provided by solar heating.
